Abstract
In this project we engaged some of the challenges within the area of context-aware mobile information systems. We have chosen a practical approach on the basis of a case study: A digital shopping assistant. We have focused on developing an indoor positioning system. It is developed in the basis of an article study and prototyping approach. Guidelines for selcting a suitable technology have been provided. We have also engaged in the task of defining requirements for a digital shopping assistant. For this task we have used three existing software development methods. The methods used were Contextual Design, M.U.S.T and eXtreme Programming. Finally we introduce a technique that can aid the developer in in finding context-aware capabilities by focusing on activities that the user us engaged with.
