Abstract

This master’s thesis examines whether traditional web design can be improved by rethinking the development process itself. Starting from a widely reported problem landscape—lengthy timelines, high costs, stress, and inefficient collaboration—the guiding question is: Which methods, theories, and frameworks can streamline the traditional web development process without sacrificing quality and functionality? The work is exploratory and synthesizes literature on information architecture, user experience (UX), Lean UX, agile and lean software development (including Scrum and Kanban), and Growth-Driven Design. It maps core concepts, clarifies the role of users, and reviews research methods as background for UX practice (without conducting empirical studies). The analysis identifies reasons for inefficiency in traditional approaches and proposes two process variants that integrate Lean UX with Scrum and with Kanban, outlining lifecycles, advantages and disadvantages, and providing an example project timeline for a portfolio website using Kanban. The project does not include a working prototype, and planned mockups were postponed due to COVID-19. Denne masterafhandling undersøger, om traditionelt webdesign kan forbedres ved at gentænke selve udviklingsprocessen. Med udgangspunkt i et udbredt problem­billede—lange forløb, høje omkostninger, stress og ineffektiv samarbejdspraksis—formuleres spørgsmålet: Hvilke metoder, teorier og rammeværk kan strømline den traditionelle webudviklingsproces uden at gå på kompromis med kvalitet og funktionalitet? Arbejdet er eksplorativt og bygger på en syntese af litteratur om informationsarkitektur, brugeroplevelse (UX), Lean UX, agil og lean softwareudvikling (bl.a. Scrum og Kanban) samt Growth-Driven Design. Afhandlingen kortlægger centrale begreber, beskriver brugernes rolle og gennemgår forskningsmetoder som baggrund for UX-arbejde (uden at gennemføre empiriske studier). I analysen peges på årsager til ineffektivitet i traditionelle forløb, og der præsenteres to procesvarianter, hvor Lean UX integreres med hhv. Scrum og Kanban, inklusive overblik over livscyklus, fordele og ulemper, samt et eksempel på en projektplan for en porteføljehjemmeside med Kanban.
