Dette projekt undersøger ikke-vestlige indvandrerkvinders møde med det danske arbejdsmarked, hvor målgruppen fortsat har lavere beskæftigelse end både mænd med samme baggrund og etnisk danske kvinder. Med udgangspunkt i spørgsmålet om, hvordan barrierer for adgang til arbejdsmarkedet kan reduceres, bygger studiet på kvalitative interviews med to ikke-vestlige indvandrerkvinder og en rådgiver fra en socialforvaltning, suppleret af kvantitative undersøgelser og statistik fra forsknings- og analysecentre. Via kodning af data identificeres temaer som identitet, kommunikation, integrationsformer, krydspres mellem krav og motivation. Analysen informeres af Pierre Bourdieus begreber om kapital og habitus samt Abraham Maslows behovsteori. Fundene peger på flere barrierer, herunder negativ social kontrol, valg af integrationsform og kommunikationsbarrierer, som påvirker kvindernes muligheder for at deltage i arbejdsmarkedet. Afslutningsvis skitseres forslag til at reducere barriererne for målgruppen.

This project examines non-Western immigrant women’s encounters with the Danish labour market, where participation remains lower than among men with similar backgrounds and ethnic Danish women. Addressing how barriers to labour market entry can be reduced, the study draws on qualitative interviews with two non-Western immigrant women and an adviser from a Social Services Administration, supplemented by quantitative studies and statistics from research and analysis centres. Through coding of the data, themes such as identity, communication, forms of integration, conflicting demands, and motivation were identified. The analysis is informed by Pierre Bourdieu’s concepts of capital and habitus and Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of human needs. Findings indicate multiple barriers, including negative social control, choice of integration form, and communication barriers, which affect women’s opportunities to participate in the labour market. The project concludes by suggesting ways to reduce these barriers.
