Abstract

This thesis examines how generative AI chatbots can be implemented and used in company supply chains. It aims to clarify both benefits and risks and to highlight factors that can cause some firms to miss opportunities. The project ran from March 1 to May 31. The study looks at how chatbots that generate text and converse in natural language can provide real‑time visibility and analytics in logistics, enabling more proactive decision‑making and efficient automation of routine tasks. It also explores risks, including data security and privacy, over‑reliance on AI, and the challenges of integrating with legacy systems. The goal is to offer practical insights that help organizations use AI chatbots effectively while managing these risks, to improve supply chain visibility and performance within Industry 4.0 (the current wave of digitalization and automation).
