Abstract

Bada Hudik describes the process involved in the design of a new bathhouse for the town of Hudiksvall in Sweden. Mappings and phenomenological examinations of the area form the basis for the development of conceptual sketches and models, resulting in an architectural concept rooted in the characteristics and nature of the site. The building is weaved into the context, resulting in a site specific experience of swimming and architecture. Light, structure and architectural expression is explored and challenged through physical models, sketches and digital parametric modellers - turning the project into an investigation of the digital sphere of architectural design, along with the physical and analogue, seeking to fuse the two in the design of a building.
