Abstract
This article presents work done with a student group from the Indoor Environmental and Energy Engineering program to automate the connection between Revit and BSim, two tools used in building design and analysis. The automation has two parts: first, exporting the building’s geometry and other relevant information from Revit into an Excel spreadsheet; second, adjusting that spreadsheet so it can be used for analysis in BSim (simulation software). The paper focuses on the first part. We explain how we designed a Dynamo script (a visual programming tool within Revit) that exports the required information from Revit to Excel, and we outline the development process.
