Virtuelle arkitektoniske værker kan bruges på mange måder og til forskellige formål. For at oplevelsen skal føles overbevisende, skal den ligge tæt på virkeligheden. At skabe en realistisk scene i virtual reality (VR) er komplekst og kræver mange valg. I samarbejde med arkitekt Jacob Hilmer udviklede vi et rammeværk til at skabe en troværdig atmosfære i VR. Vi formulerede et sæt krav og byggede gennem deltagerbaseret design (participatory design) med flere designcyklusser et virtuelt miljø med en brugergrænseflade (UI), der kan styre elementer som tidspunkt på dagen, placering og vejreffekter. Derudover gennemførte vi en brugertest for at konfigurere et mere brugervenligt UI til styring af det virtuelle miljø.

Virtual architectural works can be useful in many ways and for different purposes. To feel convincing, they need to be as close to real life as possible. Creating a realistic scene in virtual reality (VR) is complex and involves many choices. In collaboration with architect Jacob Hilmer, we developed a framework for creating a believable atmosphere in VR. We defined a set of requirements and, through participatory design with multiple iterative design cycles, built a virtual environment with a user interface (UI) that lets users control the time of day, location, and weather effects. We also conducted a user test to configure a more user-friendly UI for managing the virtual environment.
