Abstract
This paper is a study of Romania’s first decade after the Revolution of 1989. It’s focus is to answer these four questions: 1.When did the transition process start? 2. When did the transition process end? 3. Which of the alternative models of transition was used in Romania? 4. Which type of model would have suited best the Romania transition process? In answering these questions the article analysis the intentions and capabilities of the new political leadership and the political and economic developments of the decade.
