Abstract

This thesis investigates an ultrasonic tracking system for a personal sound zone simulator using direction of arrival (DoA) estimation with a uniform circular sensor array. The work situates the project within existing approaches to personal sound zones (focusing, canceling, and sound field synthesis) and motivates applications in everyday settings. As part of the project, an amplifier for six ultrasonic sensors, a 3D-printed sensor mount, and a DoA algorithm were developed.
