Abstract

Denne rapport beskriver analyse, design og implementering af en prototypeløsning til et augmented reality (AR) museum – en oplevelse, hvor digitale 3D-elementer lægges oven på den fysiske verden i realtid. Systemet er opbygget som moduler i PAVE (Parallel Architecture for Visual Effects), en software-ramme der fordeler visuelle beregninger på flere processorer. Derfor skalerer ydeevnen på multiprocessor-pc’er; vi målte en forbedring på 54 % ved at gå fra én til to processorer. Prototypen udnytter 3D-grafikhardware (grafikkort) til visualisering i realtid og kan knytte dynamiske visuelle effekter til 3D-objekter. På testmaskinen kørte systemet i realtid med en minimum billedfrekvens på 9,1 billeder i sekundet.
