Abstract
This thesis examines how Base of the Pyramid (BoP) business models in renewable energy can alleviate energy poverty in off-grid contexts, focusing on the cases of Grameen Shakti in Bangladesh and Sunlabob in Lao PDR. The central research interest is how BoP-oriented enterprises design, finance, and deliver energy services to low-income households, and to what extent such models can enable durable access to clean energy. The study adopts a qualitative multiple-case design guided by a case study protocol, collecting primary data through semi-structured interviews with purposive sampling and secondary data via a systematic literature review.
