Abstract
The Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry is undergoing a technological shift driven by rising user needs and the push for a more sustainable built environment that improves quality of life. With the spread of Building Information Modeling (BIM), digital building models with structured data, design information is stored in ways that can be linked to other datasets to develop user-centered applications. However, professionals from different disciplines in the construction sector face challenges when they must understand this data together and make collaborative decisions. From a technology perspective, there is a need to connect BIM, Internet of Things (IoT) devices (sensors and connected equipment), and end-user services to create intelligent, user-oriented tools. A broader industry trend is the rise of cyber-physical systems, often called Construction Digital Twins, meaning virtual representations connected to real-world data. This project investigates how to integrate BIM and IoT data to create visualization tools that enhance understanding and communication among project stakeholders and how this work aligns with the emerging digital twin paradigm in construction.
Bygge-, anlægs- og ingeniørbranchen (AEC) gennemgår et teknologisk skifte drevet af stigende brugerbehov og ønsket om et mere bæredygtigt, byggede miljø, der forbedrer livskvaliteten. Med udbredelsen af Building Information Modeling (BIM), digitale bygningsmodeller med strukturerede data, lagres designinformation på en måde, der kan kobles til andre datasæt og bruges til at udvikle brugercentrerede applikationer. Fagfolk fra forskellige discipliner i byggesektoren oplever dog udfordringer med at forstå disse data i fællesskab og træffe beslutninger sammen. Teknologisk set er der behov for at forbinde BIM, Internet of Things (IoT) enheder (sensorer og forbundne systemer) og slutbrugertjenester for at skabe intelligente, brugerorienterede værktøjer. En bredere trend i branchen er cyber-fysiske systemer, ofte kaldet digitale tvillinger i byggeriet, det vil sige virtuelle repræsentationer, der er koblet til data fra den virkelige verden. Dette projekt undersøger, hvordan BIM- og IoT-data kan integreres for at skabe visualiseringsværktøjer, der styrker forståelse og kommunikation mellem projektets interessenter, og hvordan arbejdet relaterer sig til den fremvoksende digitale tvilling-paradigme i byggeriet.
