Abstract

Dette speciale præsenterer et design for et besøgscenter ved Cromeleque dos Almendres i Alentejo, et landskab kendt for korkegeskove og forhistoriske monolitter. Målet er en ydmyg arkitektur, der formidler de særlige astrologiske fænomener, som har omgærdet monumentet af mystik og religiøs dyrkelse gennem årtusinder. Designet skal informere, vække nysgerrighed og sætte et roligt tempo, så gæsterne kan udforske centrets funktioner til fods. Den enkle ydre fremtoning står i kontrast til et mere udtryksfuldt indre med bl.a. auditorium, galleri og vinbar. Enkelheden lader landskabet træde frem. En glidende overgang fra terrænet op på bygningens "femte facade" (taget) giver en panoramisk udsigt over dalen.
