Abstract
Feminist foreign policy has gained momentum since Sweden adopted it in 2014. This approach brings ethics and gender perspectives into foreign policy, asking how ideas about femininity and masculinity shape decisions and their effects. Using this lens, the thesis examines nuclear disarmament in the European Union. It asks whether EU member states that pursue a feminist foreign policy can lead efforts to establish a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the EU. The study focuses on France, Sweden, and Luxembourg and looks at the early stages of the policy cycle (the initial steps in making policy) to assess their potential to drive change. It connects national and international levels and compares the three cases to explore how feminist foreign policy could support EU nuclear disarmament.
