Abstract
Formålet med specialet er at undersøge, hvordan podcastappen DRLYD kan tilbyde en bedre og mere engagerende oplevelse for 19-34-årige, som i dag viser lavere interesse og aktivitet. Arbejdet begynder med en forundersøgelse: en gennemgang af litteratur om podcasting, lyttermotiver og mediets udvikling for at skabe overblik over eksisterende viden og pege på behov for videre undersøgelser. For at besvare problemstillingen gennemførtes en brugerundersøgelse med fire deltagere i målgruppen. Deltagerne brugte DRLYD i en uge på egne præmisser, hvorefter de blev interviewet og observeret om deres oplevelser, forventninger, motivation og feedback. Undersøgelsen omfattede også en day-in-the-life-metode (indsigt i brugernes hverdagssituationer), og specialet har et teoretisk fokus på, hvad der kendetegner en brugeroplevelse. Data og teori peger på et behov for at gøre oplevelsen mere vedkommende og langtidsholdbar. This thesis examines how the DRLYD podcast app can offer a better and more engaging experience for 19–34-year-olds, a group that currently shows lower interest and activity. The work begins with a preliminary literature review on podcasting, listening motives, and the medium’s evolution to map existing knowledge and identify gaps. To answer the research question, a user study was conducted with four participants in the target age group. They used DRLYD for one week on their own terms, followed by interviews and observations about their experiences, expectations, motivations, and feedback. The study also used a day-in-the-life method (insight into everyday use contexts) and a theoretical lens on what constitutes a user experience. Findings from the empirical data and supporting theory indicate a need to make the experience more engaging and longer lasting. Participants want more control, transparency, and insight in the app, and they often listen on the go, which calls for features suited to mobile, in-motion use. In a subsequent ideation phase, these needs were translated into sketches and potential solutions. Key ideas include: an algorithm for personalized recommendations, audio-visual previews, easier ways to save and download podcasts, and interest settings that users can adjust themselves. These needs and ideas are brought together in a contemporary concept that is discussed in relation to broader podcast research and the potential of the proposed designs. The concept has not yet been digitally prototyped or user tested, and therefore remains an open, iterative process for future refinement and evaluation with users.
