Abstract

Museology in Denmark is working towards a world where the interactive experiences is a large part of Danish museums. The large museums are focusing on new and expensive experiences for their users, more than the educational aspect of museology. Small museums must look at other ways to attract new visitors, is the answer for interactivity might be found in Danish schools, as dialogic pedagogy rather than new digital exhibitions. By using Norwegian professor Olga Dysthe’s dialogic pedagogy, museums can give their users a more interactive and fulfilling experience using old exhibitions. This master’s thesis from 2024, historian from Aalborg University Christian Møller Pedersen, gives a proposal to how dialogic pedagogy, made for children, can work for the museums visitor, by analysing the educational method and reworking it for Danish museums. Furthermore, by analysing the already existing mediation on two museums, the method can be implemented as a tour using already existing exhibitions. Both museums through dialogic pedagogy, can create co-creation and interactivity, where the users are in focus, without compromising learning and the education of the public. Although not the only answer to small Danish museums difficulties, it can be an answer to generate more interactive experiences for museum visitors.
