Abstract
In 2025, the Danish government released a new, reformed Museum Law. In the wake of this law, it is important to discuss how, exactly, we can ensure the quality of registrations, which the Danish government stresses the need for. In Denmark, registration practices differ from museum to museum, despite a rising demand for the shared use of collections. In this thesis, we present a series of arguments on the basis of ANT, materiality, aesthetics, and archival inspiration, that aspire to provoke a wider, academic discussion on the registration practices in Danish museums. By doing this, we find that there are a series of steps, Danish museums could take to improve the quality of their registrations, centering around greater standardisa-tion and accessibility in item description, an awareness of museum items as actors, and the inclusion of material and sensual observations.
