Abstract
Specialet har til formål at undersøge konsekvenserne af musikkens overgang til computer- og onlinemediet. Specialet fokuserer på konsekvenserne i forhold til brugen og forbruget af musik, samt på hvorledes det musikalske produkt forandres i mødet med computer- og onlinemediet. Der argumenteres for, at en forståelse af online musik, både må tage udgangspunkt i musikken som den traditionelt fremstår i en offline verden, samt i de unikke egenskaber der kendetegner den digitale computer.
The aim of the thesis is to explore the consequences of popular music?s shift towards the computer and the Internet. The thesis primarily focuses on the consequences in relation to usage and consumption as well as describing the ways in which the musical product changes when it enters the digital domain. It is argued that online music both draws on previous established practices and norms as well as establishing new modes of usage and interaction.
