Dette kandidatspeciale undersøger, hvordan musikalsk og social interaktion udfolder sig i et musikterapiforløb med en dreng med livsbegrænsende sygdom og hans mor, med fokus på pårørendes inddragelse og den terapeutiske relation. Studiet er et interpretativt single casestudie, der anvender en etnografisk og eksistentiel fænomenologisk analyse af udvalgte videoklip fra fire sessioner. En detaljeret mikroanalyse med grafisk notation blev samlet i en triadisk model af musikterapiens rum, der fremhæver processer knyttet til barnet, den pårørende og terapeuten samt deres indbyrdes forbindelser. Fundene peger på, at afstemt musikalsk leg støttede drengens arousalregulering, fremvoksende personlighed, relationelle engagement og øjeblikke af selvstændighed, mens moderen oplevede meningsskabelse, følelsesmæssig bearbejdning, pusterum og skiftende roller i en samarbejdende terapeutisk relation. Specialet konkluderer, at inddragelse af pårørende kan være en vigtig komponent, der former både barnets deltagelse og den terapeutiske relation, afhængigt af barnets og familiens behov og præferencer. Arbejdet er forankret i dansk børnepalliation og omfatter et barn med cerebral parese.
This master’s thesis examines how musical and social interaction unfold in music therapy with a life-limited child and his mother, focusing on caregiver involvement and the therapeutic relationship. Using an interpretivist single case design, the study applies ethnographic and existential phenomenological analysis to selected video clips from four sessions. A fine-grained microanalysis with graphic notation was synthesized into a triadic model of the therapy space, highlighting child-, caregiver-, and therapist-related processes and their interconnections. Findings indicate that attuned musical play supported the child’s arousal regulation, emerging personality, relational engagement, and moments of independence, while the mother experienced meaning-making, emotional processing, respite, and shifting roles within a collaborative therapeutic relationship. The thesis concludes that caregiver involvement may be an important component shaping both the child’s participation and the therapeutic relationship, depending on the needs and preferences of the child and family. The work is situated within Danish paediatric palliative care and includes a child with cerebral palsy.
