Stigmatisering af udsatte grønlændere og vejen mod social inklusion

Abstract

Dette bachelorprojekt med titlen, stigmatisering af udsatte grønlændere og vejen mod social inklusion, tager udgangspunkt i unge socialt udsatte grønlænderes oplevelse af stigmatisering i det danske samfund samt det inkluderede sociale arbejde med målgruppen. Udsatte grønlænderes manglende inklusion i det danske samfund har længe været en kendt udfordring, og vi har derfor været nysgerrige på, hvordan inklusions- og beskæftigelsesprojektet, Arctic Street Lab, arbejder med inklusion af de grønlandske brugere, som er tilknyttet projektet. Mange af disse brugere har oplevet traumer tidligere i livet. Kendetegnet for dm alle er, at de har komplekse sociale problemer. Formålet med bachelorens kvalitative undersøgelse, herunder interview og observation, har været at opnå viden om, hvordan Arctic Street Lab bidrager til at inkludere deres brugere via det fællesskab, som findes i projektet. Herudover hvordan Arctic Street Lab samarbejder med det offentlige system med henblik på at deres brugere bedre kan inkluderes i det danske samfund. Udledt heraf samt den hermeneutiske tilgang er problemformuleringen: Hvordan oplever brugerne i Arctic Street Lab stigmatisering i det danske samfund? Og hvordan bidrager det sociale arbejde i Arctic Street Lab til, at deres brugere, via anerkendelse, kan inkluderes i det danske samfund? For at besvare bachelorens problemformulering er der, i analysen, anvendt Erving Goffmans teori om stigma og stigmatisering sat Axel Honneths teori om anerkendelse. Bacheloren kom frem til, at de fleste af de udsatte grønlændere i Arctic Street Lab oplever stigmatisering i hhv. mødet med danskere, det offentlige system samt grønlændere imellem. Herudover at det inkluderende arbejde i Arctic Street Lab strækker sig over hhv. brugerstøtte i mødet med det offentlige Danmark, tværfaglige samarbejder, og inddragelse i det interne fællesskab i Arctic Street Lab. Endelig kom bacheloren frem til at anerkendelse af brugeren er yderst vigtig for oplevelsen af at være inkluderet. Bacheloren er rundet af med handleforslag om et fokus på helhedssynet i det sociale arbejde, anerkendelse af borgeren samt tolkebistand, materiale på grønlandsk og tilpasset sprogundervisning for at inkludere flere udsatte grønlandske borgere i Danmark.

This bachelor’s degree project, with the title “Stigmatization of Vulnerable Greenlanders and the Path to Social Inclusion”, has its starting point in young vulnerable Greenlanders’ experiences with stigmatization in the Danish society and the inclusive social work with the target group. Vulnerable Greenlanders’ lack of inclusion in the Danish society has long been a known challenge and we have therefore explored how the inclusion and employment program, Arctic Street Lab in Aalborg, applies inclusion in its work with the program’s Greenlandic users. Many of these users have experienced traumas early in life. Common for all in the target group is that they carry with them complex social problems. The purpose of the project’s quantitative study, including interviews and observations, has been to gain knowledge on, how Arctic Street Lab contributes to include its users through the community found in the program. The project also focuses on how Arctic Street Lab improves inclusion of its users in Danish society through cooperation with the public system. Derived from this as well as the hermeneutic approach, the problem formulation is the following: How do the users of Arctic Street Lab experience stigmatization in the Danish society? And how does applying inclusion in the social work of Artic Street Lab contribute to its users’ inclusion in the Danish society? To address this problem formulation, Erving Goffman’s theory on stigma and stigmatization and Axel Honneth’s theory on recognition, is applied in the analysis. In the bachelor’s degree project, it is found that most of the vulnerable Greenlanders participating in Arctic Street Lab, experience stigmatization in their encounter with Danes, the public system and amongst other Greenlanders. It is also found Arctic Street Lab applies inclusion in its social work as support in its users’ interactions with the Danish public system; in multidisciplinary cooperation; and within the Arctic Street Lab community. Further, it was found in the bachelor’s degree project that recognition is paramount for the user to feel included. The bachelor’s degree project concludes with the following suggestions for courses of action for including more of our vulnerable Greenlandic citizens in Denmark: Strengthened focus on a holistic approach in the social work; recognition of the citizen, offering translation services; make paperwork and material available in Greenlandic, and customized language courses.
