Specialet undersøger, hvordan minoritetsetniske drenge i den udsatte boligafdeling Tåstrupgård oplever deres uddannelses- og arbejdsmæssige fremtidsmuligheder, og hvordan disse erfaringer kan indgå i en ligestillingsdiskussion. Med afsæt i den vedvarende samfundsdebat og statslige strategier mod såkaldte ghettoer siden 2004, bygger studiet på kvalitative interviews med 11 drenge fra Tåstrupgård samt samtaler med lokale medarbejdere, ledsaget af metodiske og etiske refleksioner. Analysen er struktureret omkring tre arbejdsspørgsmål: betydningen af drengenes baggrund (fx folkeskoleerfaringer, familiens ressourcer, netværk og møder med kriminalitet), betydningen af det omgivende samfund (bl.a. stigmatisering knyttet til boligområde og etnicitet samt arbejdsgiveres generaliseringer), og drengenes egen positionering i forhold til samfundet (distancering, identifikation og mulig glorificering af stigma). Specialet kortlægger de temaer og barrierer, drengene beskriver, og søger at nuancere integrations- og ligestillingsdebatten ved at fremhæve deres perspektiver.
This thesis explores how minority ethnic boys living in the disadvantaged housing estate Tåstrupgård perceive their educational and employment futures, and how these experiences can inform an equality debate. Situated within the ongoing public debate and government strategies targeting so‑called ghettos since 2004, the study draws on qualitative interviews with 11 boys from Tåstrupgård and conversations with local staff, alongside methodological and ethical considerations. The analysis is organized around three working questions: the significance of the boys’ backgrounds (e.g., school experiences, family resources, networks, and encounters with crime), the role of the surrounding society (including stigma linked to residence and ethnicity and employers’ generalizations), and how the boys position themselves in relation to society (distancing, identification, and possible glorification of stigma). The thesis maps the themes and barriers described by the youths and seeks to nuance debates on integration and equality by foregrounding their perspectives.
