Abstract
The museums of today are experiencing multiple challenges regarding economy, ac-cess and inclusion. One of their most urgent challenges is to make sure that they are socially inclusive and accessible for all members of society. The museums therefore have to account for ethnicity, race, social background and neurodiversity. Especially the latter as it generally has been overlooked for many years throughout the history of the world of museology. Thus it could seem there is a hole or lack of knowledge to-wards this particular subject regarding the inclusion of neurodivergent individuals in museums. Through working with cases and analyzing how museums tackle the chal-lenge regarding inclusion with the ongoing insufficient economic funds, this project aims to take up the apparent challenge of being socially inclusive, and contribute to the growing tendencies towards the subject of communicating cultural heritage to neu-rodivergent individuals, and simultaneously decrease any lack of knowledge in con-necting cultural heritage with social inclusion. Through the last two hundred years communication at museums and exhibitions has been a one-way communication as the messengers were the ones to define and communicate history. However, in recent years, there seems to have happened a noticeable change in the way of communication of cultural heritage in museums. Today museums seem to acknowledge and accept a more diverse audience and want to be more socially inclusive when communicating history to different audiences.
