In a time where social justice and wokeness is more relevant than ever, we aimed to contribute to the research done in that field. Especially in regards to social technologies and women of color. We sought to answer the question of What are the relations between women of color and the digital sphere and how do women of color utilize social technologies in order to engage in, contribute to and establish communities?
To do this we have interviewed 7 female entrepreneurs of color who are situated in Denmark.
By utilizing concepts from great feminist and justice scholars, we have drawn upon the notions of intersectionality as presented by Kimberlé Crenshaw, Paulo Freire's concepts of critical ethnography and the process of empowerment as it is described by Naila Kabeer. These have given us the methodological tools as well as theoretical framework to process our data.
Conclusively, we found a pattern of empowerment within the women, as there seemed to be a progress through which these women had to undergo in order to mobilize. This order look like this Internalization --> disempowerment --> mobilization --> empowerment
