Social Network Services (SNS) has then previous years grown in popularity, also in Denmark where a large group of people has accounts on several SNSs. What this research is investigating is what motivates SNS users in Denmark to disclose or not disclose information on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, and whether they perceive their social and institutional privacy when doing so. This was done by conducting a survey, from which we retrieved participants for a focus group and interviews. These methods combined provided us with data for interpretation. The results shows that the main motivation for SNS users in Denmark to disclose or not disclose information, is to create, control and maintain an online image.
