The 21st century has seen terrorism as the greatest threat to world peace and security as it is the
main source of the world’s humanitarian crisis which has manifested through refugee debacle,
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), food insecurity, widespread of diseases, and human
casualties. It is from this stand point that this thesis seeks to establish the nexus between Boko
Haram insurgency and the humanitarian crisis in the northern region of Cameroon. To establish
the nexus between Boko Haram insurgency and the dire humanitarian crisis in the north of
Cameroon, this thesis looked at Boko Haram objectives, its evolution in northern Cameroon and
the casualties from its insurgency. It also examined the response to this dire humanitarian crisis
in northern Cameroon by the Cameroon government, non-governmental organizations and
United Nations humanitarian agencies and the challenges faced in responding to the crisis. Some
conclusions were drawn at the end of the thesis and recommendations proposed.
