4. term, Learning and Innovative Change, Master (Master Programme)
This master is a phenomenological case study design, which sheds light on the phenomenon, the highly sensitive children. Which characterizes as the master subject field and primary focus. The purpose is to gain knowledge and understanding about the phenomenon, so this can be conveyed throw divergent insights and nuances in the master. The object field is put to relation to a complex problem field, which characterizes society issues and deviant tendencies in relation to the concepts, mental illness, diagnosis, pathology, normality, and stigma. This problem field characterizes as the master secondary focus, which presents in the problem identification.
The master contributes with a definition of the highly sensitive children, an insight, the American researcher Elaine N. Aron contributes with. Elaine N. Aron has created the highly sensitive etiquette. An etiquette, which do not have a significant definition. The highly sensitive children considered in divergent terms and etiquette, which gives a very complex picture of the phenomenon. A discovery I pursue throughout the investigation process.
The methodology sheds light on, among other things, the phenomenological direction and method of phenomenological science, and the phenomenological case study design. Furthermore, the research process, my research position, proximity and distance, and the phenomenological emotions.
The study includes four family cases, prepared on the background of four qualitative interviews, with four mothers of highly sensitive children. These research interviews are referred to as the overall empirical data material. This data material is processed and analyzed based on Axel Honneths theoretical framework. Which contributes with concepts like; self-confidence, self-understanding, self-esteem, moral violation, visibility, invisibility, mutual recognition, gestures, personal identity and an honorable behavior.
The empirical data material is also included in the diagnostic discussion and perspective. A chapter that especially puts the phenomenon, the highly sensitive children in relation to the issues and deviant tendencies that are described in the problem identification. A discussion and perspective that seeks to uncover the shadow side of the highly sensitive etiquette in relation to the deviant concepts; mental illness, diagnosis, pathology, understanding of normality and stigma.
The concluding chapter contributes with an answer to the problem formulation, and the three research questions. The conclusion also provides a basic and comprehensive overview of the divergence and coincidence of the four family cases. In conclusion, a mediating article has been prepared, the purpose of which is to shed light on the master findings, divergent insights and nuances.
