This paper investigates MPC control fora water distribution network. A labo-ratory setup was used to emulate a realwater distribution network. The labo-ratory includes a complete network witha pump, consumers, pipes and a watertower. The cost function for the MPCwas designed to reduce operation costand pressure variance. The results ofthe implementation were evaluated byits objective of reducing operation costor pressure variance. However, this wasfirst tested in a simulated environmentto examine the behaviour of the MPCcontroller. The MPC was compared toan on/off controller with the ability toturn the pump on or off. The MPCproved to produce better results thanthe on/off controller for each objective.
