4. term, Architecture, Master (Master Programme)
Spøttrup Castle lies at the shore of the lake of Spøttrup, close to Limfjorden and tells in its own quiet way of the significant part of the history of Denmark that has taken place here. Spøttrup Castle museum and Palaces and Properties Agency made an architectural competition in the spring and summer of 2009, which this project is build on.
The competition is about making a new entering center for the area around Spøttrup castle in order to strengthen the overall experience of visiting this place. The building includes ticketsales, offices and some exhibition space from where the story of Spøttrup castle can take its outset.
It is very important for the owner that the entering building is a supplement to the castle and do not try to place itself higher in the hierarchy of the site, than the castle.
The project takes its outset in the place and the historical context to create a new and unique piece of architecture of high quality.
