The aim of the thesis is to explore the consequences of popular music?s shift towards the computer and the Internet. The thesis primarily focuses on the consequences in relation to usage and consumption as well as describing the ways in which the musical product changes when it enters the digital domain. It is argued that online music both draws on previous established practices and norms as well as establishing new modes of usage and interaction.
