This study deals with the development process of a modular jukebox system. The project is based on a use-case from the company Event-Danmark. Who owns a repertoire of prerecorded accompaniments which they want a custom made jukebox system for.
The primary focus of this report is to create a prototype consisting of a client and a host where the client is used for user interaction and the host contains the music and the music player.
In the preliminary analysis two requirements for the system response time in the system were found. The first requirement was a 100 millisecond response time for simple commands and the second requirement was a 720 milliseconds response time for the advanced commands.
The system was designed in accordance with the requirement specification and a stress test was performed to watch how the system behaved in a strained processing situation for the client and the host. Afterwards a test with limited bandwidth was performed.
It is concluded that it is possible to create such system but that the requirements for system response times only could bet met under certain conditions.
