Abstract
The world community evolves in hasty transition and increasing complexity; no longer do we educate ourselves towards single career lifelong employment; we must prepare for new jobs and new careers, new technologies, cultural change, and fast unpredictable career shifts all through our working life … Such is the context, which the Danish “Folkeskole” must fit itself into and explore.

The new School Reform aims at targeting “Folkeskolen” the competencies of the 21st century and has three major targets:
* Challenging the individual pupil (student?) to the limit in order for her/him to become as clever as s/he possibly can
* Reducing the impact of social background with relation to academic results
* Increasing trust (confidence?) and contentment (well-being?) through i.a. respect for professional knowledge and praxis.

Although not unequivocally scientifically founded, the reform includes a wish for as well as an implicit understanding of the fact that IT increases learning. Thus, I am curious as to how the use of IT can support the stated goal of “challenging the individual pupil (student?) to the limit in order for her/him to become as clever as s/he possibly can.” Particularly, I am interested in the pupil perspective and want to put into play the pupils’ experiences and visions. I explore the field through the concepts of meaningful participation and motivation, and the project concludes with a number of narratives, which make up an inspirational catalogue.
