The objective of this report is the develop-
ment of an individual pitch controller to mit-
igate loads on a wind turbine. This includes
the development of a non-linear mathemat-
ical model, containing structural and aero-
dynamic properties. The structural model
consists the fore-aft movement of the tower
and the flap- and edgewise movement of the
blades. For the modelling of the aerody-
namics the Blade Element Momentum The-
ory (BEMT) has been used and implemented.
The non-linear model has been used to make
a linearization, to develop a linear model for
control purposes.
Firstly, a collective PI controller has been de-
veloped to maintain steady power output,
whereafter an individual PI controller has
been implemented to even out the loads on
the rotor caused by shear wind.
A successful MPC was not implemented due
to time limitations.
