The premise for the 10 semester dissertation in architecture and design, made under the faculty of Architecture and Design at Aalborg University, is an open competition which was made public in the autumn of 2007. The competition regarded the proposal for a new aquatic center in the Swedish town of Hudiksvall. The competition was finished on the 18th. Of February 2008 and won by Gustav Appells Arkitektkontor. The purpose of the thesis regards improving the author capability concerning conceptual form, and its underlying processes. The foundation for the completion of the final project is the result of the analysis and registration made prior to the project. The themes water, Swedish outdoor baths, the surrounding nature and most important the history of the city has been the most important elements. The concept for the preliminary proposal for the new aquatic center in Hudiksvall, is grounded in the timber industry, which has been of great importance in shaping the town for over 130 years. The concept is thus an answer to the problem posed by the competition brief.
