Title: Parental cohabitation and sexuality when the child has cancer - "How to strengthen the parents' sexuality when the child has cancer?”
Background: Research shows that biological, psychological and social factors affect parents 'relationships of child's cancer treatment, which also affects health and sexuality. Health workers and parents focus on the child's cancer treatment, but the importance of strengthening parental sexuality is forgotten.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out how health workers can help parents strengthen the cohabitation and sexuality when the child is undergoing cancer treatment and to avoid possible separation.
Method: It has been used literature based approximation method to answer the research.
Results: The study shows that sexuality can be strengthened in different ways by using strategies based on biological, psychological and social factors that are effected by the child´s cancer treatment. Communication and stress are two of the central factors that the research shows one should work on to strengthen sexuality.
Conclusion: Based on biological, psychological and social factors can sexuality and how it gets affected be seen through simple signs or symptoms that parents show during the child's cancer treatment. Study shows several factors need to be considered in order to strengthen parental sexuality.
