The purpose of this thesis is to examine the treatment methods best applied in relation to sexual rehabilitations of cancer patients and how these methods can be implemented in Denmark for further development of oncological sexology. The thesis includes research articles from the United States, Canada and Sweden, along with other relevant literature on the subject. The thesis shows that addressing sexual problems directly with psychoedukationel interventions is an apt way to help cancer patients and their partners to handle their sexual problems. The interventions must be rooted in the bio-psyko-social approach to the subject, and include the PLISSIT-model. These interventions, with the inclusion of the theory of flexible coping and a diverse information material to patients and their partners, as well as better education of health care workers to handle the sexological problems, might strengthen the counseling and help develop the oncological sexology in Denmark.
