In this master thesis the main purpose is to develop a concept for a digital tool which can support design processes and thereby increase the outcome quality of such processes. In the design process of this concept the HOME-method is being used to divide the thesis into different parts each focusing on a specific area in the process. The first part is the ‘pre-analysis’ where the problem area is specified. In the following part, the focus turns to a deeper research of the area of concern. In order to build a strong foundation for the design, empirical data is being collected and analyzed in this ‘research’ part. The data consists of interviews and observation of different workshops where recording of video is also being used. Through a grounded theory approach the data is cut into smaller parts and categorized. This categorization is performed in order to generate knowledge about situations that occur in design processes where a digital tool could be helpful. As a result of the research and the processing of this, a category matrix containing challenges and opportunities in design processes is being developed. This matrix is the foundation of the further development of the tool in question. This leads to ‘design’ which is the next part of the HOME-method. In the beginning of this part an individual design phase takes place. Here different inspiration cards are being used in order to support the idea generation. However at this time the process proves that there is a need for involving more and different perspectives in the design. Therefore a workshop organized as a collaborative design phase is also integrated in the process. From the individual and the collaborative design phases a concept is made using sketching and prototyping. The concept consists of a touch table which contains different idea generation methods which are combined with the use of De Bonos thinking hats. According to the HOME-method the following part is ‘completions’. As the concept is a suggestion and not the description of a fully functional product, the last part in the HOME-method is changed to fit the specific process. Therefore the ending part is more of an evaluation of the concept which states that the concept meets the different challenges and uses the possibilities from the category matrix.
