Small and medium-sized construction firms can be to a large extent held accountable for the slow rate of digital transformation of the Danish building industry, as compared with the other sectors of the national economy. To address this problem, Danish government has recently issued a Strategy for Digital Construction.
Using actor-network theory, this dissertation analyses, if Strategy’s aims converge with the actual interests of these construction companies and if these aims are attainable.
The analysis is based on a qualitative research in form of interviews with several representatives of few random small and medium construction companies in Denmark and a person responsible for implementing the Strategy.
Some of the findings are, that as a result of multiple mediations between the authors of the Strategy and construction firms, not all obstacles for digitalisation have been addressed by the Strategy.
