With the global power consumption accelerated lately, it is becoming more and more relevant to find efficient power supplies. The inherent advantages of power factor correction over other converters are its high power factor and low input current harmonic distortion. Interleaving techniques present several advantages: low input current ripple, improved power handling capabilities at greater than 90\% efficiency and faster transient response to load changes. A study on the effect upon EMI filter and optimization has to be considered under such operating conditions.
In this project, the focus is on the design and optimization of an interleaved PFC converter using Dual In-Line Intelligent Power Modules. Different current operation modes (CCM, DCM and QCM) are investigated in order to analyze its influence on PFC converter performance withthe goal of optimizing the EMI filter size and improving the power density of a 1 kW single-phase 2-channel interleaved PFC boost converter.
