The premise for this 10th semester long dissertation in architecture made under the faculty of Architecture and Design, Aalborg University, is the BOLIG+ concept and the prequalified competition. The competition regards the design of an energy-neutral urban dwelling complex to be situated at the Nørresundby Harbourfront, between the two bridges across the Limfjord. The competition proposals are to be designed according to five BOLIG+ dogmas. This project is also based on the five dogmas and the design concept is based upon a series of investigations, that will lead to a designproposal, which will be the essence of the project. The essence of the project is to be understood as the value of the analyses and the designproces and how it is integrated into the final design. The concept is based upon the modernist theories about urban ‘light, air and vegetation’, and attempts to re-interpret it and merge it with a sustainable and urban typologically integrated approach to architecture. Hereby it is sought to create a building in which both the qualitative and the quantitative aspects of the building merge and provide good conditions for the everyday life of the inhabitants as well as having a positive effect on the natural environment.
