Data in this report includes the work on the design of a stand-alone low voltage DC micro grid system to power a fully DC single house in remote areas. The main objective of this report was to investigate a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm. By simulation, the behavior and efficiency of the system, together with the implemented algorithm were analyzed. First the Photovoltaic module was build using MATLAB's SimPowerSystems block, delivering power to a boost converter, controlled by the MPPT algorithms feeding a DC load and a battery. MPPT is a technique which is responsible for extracting the maximum power from the Photovoltaic (PV) System. The algorithm used for tracking the maximum power point of the Photovoltaic module is the Perturb and Observer (P&O) method which is written in an m. files in MATLAB and used to calculate the maximum power point for different weather conditions. Different data such as input voltage, current and output voltage, power for each simulation have been recorded.
