This study investigates the planning process for the transport combination between bikes and the future light rail in the Ring 3 corridor. The existence of a car regime dominating the transport planning is identified in Gladsaxe and Glostrup Municipalities. Furthermore a silo mentality within the municipal transport planning administrations is identified, which means that this transport combination is not even considered in the planning process.
The municipalities therefore do not yet live up to their own goals of strengthening the share of passengers for the future light rail as well as ensuring a more sustainable passenger transport.
Since the municipal politicians are not aware of the potential in the combination of these two transport modes and therefore do not plan for this transport combination, they risk missing out on an obvious change to ensure a more sustainable passenger transport in the Copenhagen area, which in the end will benefit the environment, climate, congestion, economy and public health.
