This project is conducted in collaboration
with the Danish munition manufacturer
DENEX, and concerns the investigation and
implementation of a die design with a circular
die land, CDL, to the ironing process of
5.56mm NATO cartridge cases.
The rst part of the project concerns an investigation
of the eects an implementation
of the CDL design have on the ironing process.
In the second part of the project is a CDL
design determined in regards to implementing
it to the production at DENEX. It was
determined that the design should use a CDL
radius of 11mm.
In the third and nal part of the project
is the chosen CDL design implemented and
tested in the production at DENEX, and it
was here discovered that the design was not
able to produce conforming cartridge cases
due to fracture during the third draw.
