The collection of data is becoming more and more common when it comes to social media and applications for smartphones. One application doing this is the application ''PulsoDeLaCiudad'' which is part of a EU project. The project aims to help turning more cities into smart cities, optimizing them to fit the needs of the citizens by knowing more about people's whereabouts. The application has already helped improve the city Santander, wherefore the application is tried implemented in Århus. Here the application have met some obstacles from the municipality, who are wished as a future partner, wherefore their reservations are important to take into account. Being part of an application that collects data makes them afraid that the citizens think that the municipality is trying to monitor them. Therefore, this project is a study in privacy and data collection, seen from the users' perspective. In this study an interview was conducted where 20 people were asked questions about their thoughts when it came to data collection and habits when it came to technology and social media. It was here found that the participants had a hard time relating to the data collection because lack of knowledge when it came to the subject. Therefore, it was found that it is important for people to know the purpose of the collection of data.
