In this project, the objective was to de-
velop an algorithm that could deter-
mine sensor locations in an indoor en-
vironment based on Transmit Power
(TxP), Received Signal Strength Indi-
cator (RSSI) and the building map. Ini-
tially, the problem is analysed and cur-
rent methods within localization deter-
mination are examined. This analysis
lead to the choice to use RSSI to deter-
mine distance with a path-loss model,
and an explanation of how the build-
ing map is used to improve the model.
Based on this, an algorithm was de-
signed to estimate distance, location
and room in the building. To assess
the algorithms performance, a simula-
tion tool was developed, and the pro-
posed algorithm was compared with
other localization methods. It was con-
cluded that the proposed algorithm
"Multilateration with filtration" had in-
creased the performance compared to
other methods, however, further im-
provements can be done.
