Though the concept of procedural content generation has been around for more than 25 years, it has not received attention from academic circles, and as such, many unsolved problems still remain.

This project investigates story telling and narratives within procedurally generated random worlds, and seeks to understand why this has been so difficult for people to do.

Narrative models were used in conjunction with generative algorithms, in an attempt to not only build a coherent game world, but also tell a narrative within it. This game was tested, and users were asked to re-tell the narrative.

Though it is not necessarily possible to create absolute meaning from this experiment, it did spawn a new hypothesis that telling stories within procedurally generated worlds can be done to the same extend as in hand-made worlds, given the same assets.
