Afghanistan is a multi-ethnic country. According to some scholars this increases the likelihood of conflict. It is important to think academically about ways how to decrease this possibility. This research therefore focuses on Kymlicka’s Theory of Minorities and moreover how Afghan youth relate themselves to the solutions offered. The fact that Afghanistan is a multi-ethnic country, hasn’t however detract from the fact that there also exist a sense of a national Afghan identity among Afghanistan citizens. Therefore this research is also interested in the role of this notion of an Afghan identity with regards to the views young Afghans hold towards Kymlicka’s Theory of Minorities.
