The thesis A visual network is investigating how visual tools known from graphic facilitation are being implemented in a consulting company in Copenhagen, Denmark. An Actor-Network inspired analysis is utilized to study how the visual tools through a process creates a relation to a consultant with expertise in the visual tools and the four partners of the consulting company. From the premise of a symmetrically analysis the actors are considered to be defined as both human and non-human and any assumption about who or what takes action in the process is declined. Based on this premise a document study is conducted searching for blog posts written by the consultant to help answer the questions: Which visual tools does the consultant introduce to the partners and how. Then a case study is set up dictated by Bruno Latours motto, I follow the actors in an observational study supported by four semi-structured interviews.

With inspiration from Callons investigation of the scallops and the fishermen of St. Brieuc Bay three moments of translation are identified; first defines the actors, also defined as the programme; the consultant that teaches the visual tools in the consulting company, the visual tools, that the consultant wishes to implement, and the partners ´ intention to create more inspiring internal meetings. All identified actors must relate to the key question and an obligatory passage point: whether the visual tools establish a relation to the partners, and subsequently change the internal praxis of the company. In the next moment of translation, the interessement, the abovementioned actors are locked into place and kept away from other potential obligatory passage points that may threaten the programme. The third moment of translation, the enrolment, is a tree hour course where the consultant teaches the partners basic drawing techniques and the visual tools. The consultant introduces the following tools: drawing with both left and right hand, her own no. 1 tool, the templates including balance points for making templates.

The analysis shows that several anti programmes challenges the obligatory passage point as the partners mobilise the visual tools, as allies, when they draw during meetings with clients, courses and workshops. The visual tools find strength in many different ways; they are easy and fast to use, because they can help visualize communication, they create more inspiring meetings and mobilise alliances with development workshops, a presentation of group work and the creation of a visual agenda.
