The area of research for this thesis was chosen in order to illuminate an organisation?s and hence its members? use of a certain ICT (Information Communication Technology) based on a communications theoretical perspective (Niklas Luhmann's systems theory). The choice of Aalborg Kommunes Ældre- og Handicapforvaltning (Aalborg Municipal?s Administration for the Elderly and the Handicapped) as the case organisation for this thesis came about during a project employment at the organisation. During the project employment, the organisation was implementing a joint electronic employee portal (Intranet) for all the municipal?s administrations. In this context the pivotal point is modernization of the municipal. Based on the assumption that ICT is only one of several means for the modernization process, the thesis main focus was determined to be within this possible problem area and hence the following problem was founded: "What coherence can we observe between the goals and the use of an employee portal in an organisation and how can such an ICT mediate communication in the organisation?" Furthermore, it was found relevant to pose another question in regards to the problem namely: "With starting point in the thesis? reflections, how do we believe that the organisation in the future can develop the employee portal as an offer of communication within the organisation?" In order to implement Aalborg Municipal as the case, the following research questions were put forward: "Which goals and thereby functional expectations are there for KLIK?" "How are the functional goals conveyed in KLIK?" "How do the pc-users use and access KLIK?" In order to illuminate the problem and put forward a validated answer to the questions, the thesis was divided into four main parts namely the main report, a prospect for the future, an observation of the thesis and finally a conclusion. The main report included the theoretical reflections that were necessary to illuminate the problem as well as the analysis of the three research questions, a discussion of the findings and a conclusion of the findings. The prospect researched the second question put forward in regards to the problem and thereby included ideas for the future and a conclusion on the findings. The observation of the thesis included reflections of the observations both theoretical and empirical. Finally, a conclusion was made on both the main report and the prospect. In regards to the coherence between the goals of and the use of KLIK which was looked at in the main report, it was found that KLIK can contribute to fulfil the goals of Aalborg Municipal by offering increased support for the communication within the organisation. Especially it was found that the portal can help increase the effectiveness of the organisation by offering a systematic access to large portions of information in the organisation. Furthermore, it was found that the portal offered potential as it could lead to new conditions for communication within the organisation. However, the analysis of the research questions also indicated that there were problems with the portal as a large part of the users have problems harvesting the potential of the portal just as it was found that there were problems with the clarity of the available information. It was argued however that these problems could be minimized with instructions and room for teaching within the organisation. Finally, it was found that the portal?s main role is in the organisation?s contribution to its employees as it offers access to the organisation?s communication. In the prospect, four suggestions to future activities were put forward based on the reflections in the main report. They dealt with both how the organisation can solve the problem areas that the main report illuminated as well as how the organisation can contribute to teach the employees to harvest the possibilities within the portal on a day-to-day basis. Finally, it was suggested that the organisation tries to include more groups in the daily use of the portal so that the potential in the portal can be fully maximised. Finally, in the observation of the thesis, a discussion of the thesis? chosen method was made as the pros and cons of the method were examined before a conclusion was made on the thesis. The thesis started by asking if there was link to KLIK and it was possible in the end to conclude that: Yes, there is link to KLIK although there is basis for establishing more links
