Enhancement of electrically small antennas properties with metamaterials
Studenteropgave: Speciale (inkl. HD afgangsprojekt)
- Samantha CAPORAL DEL BARRIO
The purpose of this project was to understand the use of metamaterials in
electrically small antennas and to enhance their properties with them.
For this purpose different kinds of metamaterials have been studied and discussed.
The S-shaped metamaterial has been transform and adapted to the
mobile phone requirements to obtain a small Z antenna. Different possible
structures have been simulated in order to get the biggest enhancement for the
resulting antenna.
The Z antenna for mobile phones application is naturally matched to the source,
without the need of an additional circuit. Also, it enhances the gain, reduces
the reactive near elds and is more resistant to the user's body influence.
Two papers have been submitted to present these results.
