This thesis aims to investigate the user experience with Parkmuseernes website, and explore the possibility for a more user engaging digital design.
The examination of the user experience begins with a survey focusing on the website: how people are using the site, and how they feel about the site. Furthermore user interviews are used to investigate, a group of users experiences with museums, technology, relaxation and the park areas. These examinations combined with theories on museum websites, user involvement and sociality has resulted in a suggestion for an experience design for Parkmuseerne.
Through the user examinations the results showed that the website is functioning well, compared to the wishes from Parkmuseerne, as well as the users main purpose with their visits on the site. The interviews showed that the users especially use the museums for exploring and relaxing purposes. Furthermore the users tend to use their smartphones a lot, and wish to let their phones be, when walking in the park, in order to relax properly. These results have been incorporated in a design suggestion.
The design aims to facilitate a social interaction between visitors in the park, and encourage the participators to leave their smartphones in their pockets and to sense the park in new ways.
